The second Pan-American Cadre School of the International Marxist tendency will take place in Mexico on 2-4 December. Comrades from Canada, the US, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil, Bolivia and Argentina are expected to attend to discuss a whole series of current and historic topics, in order to collectively raise our level of understanding.

News of the death of comrade Jean Lievens came as a most shocking and unwelcome surprise to all of us who knew him. Jean was always so full of life that to speak of his death seems to be unthinkable. But at the tragically early age of 59 he has been suddenly taken from us after a short fight against a serious illness.

The new and completed edition of Stalin, the critical biography Trotsky was working on at the time of his death, was officially launched at the Museo Casa de León Trotsky (Leon Trotsky House Museum) in Mexico City by the IMT with presentations by Esteban Volkov, Trotsky’s grandson, and Alan Woods, the editor of the new edition of the book.

Habent sua fata libelli - “Books have their own fate”, a Roman author once wrote. And of no book in history is this more the case than Trotsky’s biography of Joseph Stalin, the newly completed edition of which will be launched next Saturday, 20 August, at the Museo Casa de Leon Trotsky, Mexico City.

In the final week of July, nearly 300 delegates and visitors from around 30 different countries attended the 2016 World Congress of the International Marxist Tendency. Meeting in the midst of huge mass movements, class struggles, and revolutionary developments across the world, this year’s congress was undoubtedly the most exciting and successful yet.

Over the weekend of 8-10th April, over 120 Socialist Appeal supporters and sellers met in London to discuss the turbulent economic and political situation developing in Britain - and internationally - and to take stock of the tasks facing Marxists in the period ahead. The mood at the conference, hosted by the UCLU and SOAS Marxist societies, was one of brimming optimism and enthusiasm about the prospects for building the forces of Marxism.

South Africa is a key country for the world socialist revolution. Therefore, the IMT is dedicating many resources to help theRevolutionary Young Marxists in building their organisation. This year we have paid one visit to the comrades, and we have brought one of them to our Marxist Summer School in Italy. We aim to do the same next year. At the same time, living in a very large country with low wages, the costs of books, materials and travelling to meet other comrades are very high and the lack of funds is a real problem. We urge all our readers to consider donating to the IMT winter collection in order to support this work. Click on the button below to donate:

Over 60 comrades and contacts from New York, New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Greensboro, NC, Toronto, Montreal, Greece, and Switzerland all participated in the highly energetic 2015 Northeast Regional Marxist School. There were many contacts present as well, one even coming all the way from North Carolina.

Around one hundred young people gathered last weekend in Biel for the Sixth Annual Marxist Autumn School. Compared to 60 people attending last year, this is a big step forward for der Funke/l’étincelle, the Swiss section of the IMT. Also present were international guests from five different countries. The event was bilingual in German and French, and took place over the course of the whole weekend. We were also proud to be able to present a newly printed republication of The Third Front, by Willi Münzenberg. The success of the school has shown once more the increasing interest in Marxist ideas in Switzerland.
