Continuing their brutal crackdown on democratic rights over recent months, Malaysian police yesterday attacked a peaceful protest against fuel price hikes held in Kuala Lumpur (for more information see here).
54 activists were arrested, including leaders of the Malaysian Socialist Party (PSM) chairperson Nasir Hashim and secretary-general S. Arutchelvan.

of those arrested are being held at the police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. Three others, including Arutchelvan, have been taken to Pudu, the main jail.
