One year after the publication of Permanent Revolution in Indonesia, the IMT is proud to publish for the first time in Indonesia one of Trotsky’s masterpieces, Revolution Betrayed. Translated to Bahasa Indonesia for the first time, this work will be an important tool for the revolutionary youth of Indonesia to grasp the essence of Marxism and understand the ideas of Trotsky, the leader of October Revolution and the organizer of the first Red Army.
There has been a wide vulgarization of Trotsky’s ideas in Indonesia by ex-members of Indonesian Communist Party who were trained under the Stalinist PKI (many were honest Communists who were prevented by their party from reading the works of Trotsky) and irresponsible individuals such as Doug Lorimer. Many Indonesian youth, having never read the works of Trotsky because his works have never been translated, let alone published, are disoriented.
For the past few years, IMT has been at the forefront in translating and publishing the works of Trotsky into Bahasa Indonesia. With this, the revolutionary youth of Indonesia will be able to read for themselves what Trotsky has written and re-orient their politics toward a revolutionary goal. This book will also equip Indonesian activist with the ammunition to answer those who say that what failed in Soviet Union is socialism.
Revolution Betrayed is a devastating answer to the theory of “socialism in one country”, an idea which is still prevalent today. Should there be a proletariat revolution in Indonesia, the lesson contained in this book will be a treasure for the Indonesian revolutionaries on the danger of bureaucratic degeneration caused by the isolation of the revolution.
The publication of this book will cost $1,200 for 1500 copies.
