United States: Trump’s conviction shows turmoil and instability are the new normal

On Thursday, May 30, Donald Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records to influence the 2016 election. Outside the Manhattan courthouse, the Republican denounced the trial, saying, “This was a rigged trial, a disgrace.” Contrary to the jury’s verdict, Trump declared himself not only innocent, but “very innocent.” Despite these protestations, he has made history once again—this time by becoming the first American president to be a convicted felon.

Vom 10. bis zum 12. Mai fand der Gründungskongress der Revolutionären Kommunistischen Partei (RKP) in Burgdorf statt. Nach drei Tagen intensiver politischer Diskussionen gründeten die Delegierten einstimmig die neue Partei und verabschiedeten ihr Manifest. Zum Schluss wurden weder Blumen verteilt noch Cüplis getrunken – sondern mit frenetischen «RKP»-Rufen verkündet: Wir bauen das Fundament der künftigen kommunistischen Massenpartei zum Sturz des Kapitalismus auf!

Le congrès de fondation du Parti communiste révolutionnaire (PCR) s’est tenu du 10 au 12 mai à Berthoud. Après trois jours d’intenses discussions politiques, les délégués ont voté à l’unanimité la fondation du nouveau parti et ont adopté son manifeste. A la fin, ni distribution des fleurs ni apéritif huppé – mais une proclamation à grands cris – « PCR » -, en avant maintenant à la construction des bases du futur parti communiste de masse pour renverser le capitalisme !
