Jorge Martin continued his North American tour with a stop in Oakland, CA on May 12. Roughly 25 people attended a meeting organised by the Venezuelan solidarity Network and San Francisco Hands off Venezuela. Martin spoke for more than an hour on the current state of the revolutionary processes of Venezuela.

Between May 6th and May 10th Hands Off Venezuela held events in Portland Oregon, Olympia Washington and Victoria BC, before finishing up with the Western Canada HOV conference in Vancouver. It was a very successful tour which defended the Venezuelan revolution as well as laying the base for the formation of a number of HOV groups around the Pacific Northwest.

Goodbye RCTV, welcome TVes! The licence for coup-plotting TV station RCTV expired last night. Venezuela has now a new public access channel, TVes. We have updated the list of signatures to our appeal on the RCTV case. On Tuesday the HOV delegation that went to Venezuela during the December elections, showed video-clips and slides from their visit and spoke about their experience. The most striking part was their visit to the Sanitarios Maracay factory now being run by the workers after they occupied it back in November. John McDonnell MP and Alan Woods, founder of the HOV campaign, were among the main speakers, as was the Venezuelan Ambassador, Alfredo Toro Hardy.

On Saturday November 4, more than two hundred people turned up for the second national Hands Off Venezuela conference in Britain. A new steering committee was elected and resolutions were passed in defence of the Bolivarian Revolution in the run up to the presidential elections, in solidarity with the struggle of the people of Oaxaca, on John McDonnell's leadership bid and on the need for joint work with other Latin American solidarity campaigns.
