Vancouver Canadian Union of Postal Workers supports PTUDC

On Sunday November 25 the Vancouver local of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers passed a resolution in support of the PTUDC. After a brief discussion about the current situation in Pakistan, the following resolution was passed unanimously by about 60 trade unionists present at the meeting.

On Sunday November 25 the Vancouver local of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers passed a resolution in support of the PTUDC. After a brief discussion about the current situation in Pakistan, the following resolution was passed unanimously by about 60 trade unionists present at the meeting.

Whereas the Musharraf dictatorship in Pakistan has declared marshal law and cracked down on opposition and trade union activists,

And whereas the Pakistan Trade Union Defense Campaign defends trade union rights in Pakistan,

And whereas many members of the Pakistan Trade Union Defense Campaign have been arrested and held without charge, 

Therefore be it resolved that the Vancouver local of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers condemns the dictatorial actions of the Musharraf regime.

Therefore be it further resolved that the Vancouver local of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers demands the immediate release of all political prisoners in Pakistan.

Therefore be it further resolved that the Vancouver local of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers endorses and supports the Pakistan Trade Union Defense Campaign.
