Youth For International Socialism YFIS’s first national delegate conference was held in Lahore on 7th of November 2004. Nearly 80 comrades attended from different parts of Pakistan. The conference consisted of two sessions. The agenda of the first session was “Youth and Revolution” with comrade Adil leading off and comrade Wasif chairing. The agenda of the second session was “How to Build YFIS” with comrade Hina leading off and comrade Haresh chairing.

In the first session comrade Adil described the role of youth in society and explained how in every movement they were the first who came out for the fight. Now if we analyze the present situation we see that a new wave of the movement is emerging throughout the globe. Therefore, in this scenario our role is very important and for this we need to educate the youth who can play a role in the transformation of society. Our struggle will continue until the socialist victory. In this session many comrades intervened and at the end comrade Lal Khan summed up the session with the words that this conference was taking place in a very decisive time in the history of Pakistan. He explained that the day September 6th was the day on which the movement of 1968-69 started with the death in Pindi of the student named Hameed. So today is also the anniversary of the 1968-69 revolution and this was the conference of the comrades who are preparing themselves to bring about a world revolution.

In the second session, comrade Hina explained that YFIS is an umbrella organization and we need to understand its role. We have seen the results of our unemployment campaign and we have to take it seriously now because the youth is taking it very keenly so it is time to speed things up, but we need to organise all of this work because if we cannot manage it then this campaign becomes pointless. Comrades Saleem, Zahid Nisar Saba, Imran and many others intervened in the discussion and at the end comrade Manzoor summed up the conference with these words, “The way you planned all things is very good. Now it is your duty to put this in practice and the way you have arranged this conference has proved that you are able to do anything.”

In the end, comrades sang the Internationale, and then they started chanting slogans, such as “Revolution... revolution... socialist revolution”, and many others, showing their immense enthusiasm.
