Four students arrested at Chamran University in southern Iran

Four student activists have been arrested and there whereabouts are unknown. Please add your organisation or name to the list of solidarity groups supporting the campaign.

On Monday 22 October, four students were arrested at Chamran University in Ahvaz (southern Iran). Roozbeh Rahimi, Javad Alikhani, Mehdi Masoomi and Raee, were arrested and taken away by the security forces. So far their friends and families have not been able to get any information about their situation. They are all student activists at Chamran University, especially active in publishing student journals.

It is important to note that other than Roozbeh Rahimi, who is said to have gone to where he was arrested, other students were arrested in the student dormitories.

A group of student activists at Ahvaz's Chamran University have issued a statement condemning these events and have said that their future actions will depend on the acts of those who have arrested the students.

Statement originally published on the 'Standing with clenched fist' blog, 23 October 2007.
