In the build up to the forthcoming December referendum on constitutional reform some of the reformist elements within the Bolivarian movement are coming out with their true colours. General Baduel, recently resigned Minister of Defence, has openly joined the Opposition, as has "Podemos" a party that was part of the government coalition. Open appeals to the military officer caste to rebel are also appearing in the media. This highlights the dangers to the revolution and the urgent need to complete it.

Inveval has long been one of the best examples of workers’
control in the Venezuelan revolution. This fact has now been recognised by
Chavez, who at a meeting with Inveval workers and the Economic Planning
Commission, has commended the workers for their excellent work, and used the
plant as an example for the socialist re-organisation of the economy.

On Friday, August 10th a sizeable group of
"empleados" of
Sanitarios Maracay staged a coup against the workers who had maintained the
factory since November 2006 and
dismissed the Factory Council. They had
the implicit support of the Ministry of Labour for a proposal to set up a
commission made up of Sanitarios workers, the former owner and the Ministry
with the aim of settling the payment of back wages and some other monies that
were owed to the workers.

Trotsky. For the first time since that date, Trotsky’s death is being
commemorated officially by a government institution. Estaban Volkov, Celia

This
lengthy article looks at every detail of how the media behaved before, during

about the undemocratic nature of the private media in Venezuela and also points
the accusing finger at the media internationally.

Condoleezza Rice last week launched another
attack against the Venezuelan Revolution at the general assembly of the
Organization of American States, using the non-renewal of the licence to RCTV
as an excuse. The imperialists are determined to defeat the Revolution in Venezuela, which poses a direct threat to their
continuing domination of Latin America.

The non-renewal of the broadcasting licence to private TV
station RCTV in Venezuela
has been used by the oligarchy and imperialism to unleash the coup-plotting
campaign they were unable to launch at the time of the December 3rd elections.
Despite all the hue and cry over “freedom of expression” the real aim of the
oligarchy in Venezuela
is to create a situation of chaos, violence and confusion.
