In Defence of Marxism

The aim of this web site is to defend the validity of the ideas of Marxism, but not merely as an academic exercise. We think Marxism is the best guide for today’s labour movement. If you agree with the ideas in this web site you should join us in the struggle for socialism.

Here are some more ideas which you could do:

• Tell your friends and/or comrades about the “In Defence of Marxism” web site (our URL is very easy to remember: http://www.marxist.com)

• Print out our material and give it out to friends, comrades, workmates, schoolmates, etc you think might be interested in these ideas.

• Distribute and discuss our articles and documents in your organisation, trade union branch, political party, youth club, university society, etc.

• Republish our material in discussion groups, newsgroups, bulletin boards, local newsletters, left wing magazines, etc. We are happy to allow anyone to use our articles and documents as long as the source is properly credited.

• Join a Marxist discussion group. There are hundreds of them all over the world. Their aim is to discuss Marxist ideas and intervene in the local labour and youth movement. Tell us where you are based and we will put you in touch with the nearest one. If there is not a group near where you live, why don’t you set up one yourself? Get a few interested friends together and start by discussing the basic ideas of Marxism (contact us for advice on how to do it, where to start, etc). Also have a look at the YFIS discussion forum where you can discuss Marxist ideas with people from around the world.
  
  

• Get a subscription to Socialist Appeal, the Marxist voice of the labour movement which publishes every month most of the articles of “In Defence of Marxism” plus a detailed analysis of the current events in the British labour and trade union movement. Click here to subscribe.

• Get a paper copy of our books. We have provided the full text of a number of books on-line because we think it is important to make our analysis available to the widest audience possible – but not everyone has access to the internet. By buying a copy of our books you will have these ideas handy at all times and will help us generate the necessary ressources to publish more books. Please visit out Wellred books section!

• Help us spread our ideas. There are many areas of the world where internet usage is very low because phone lines and service providers are not widely available or are very expensive. Sending books and pamphlets to these countries can be expensive. You have the advantange of having access to our web site and being able to read our analysis on-line. You could help them access this material by paying for a year’s subscription to Socialist Appeal for someone who cannot afford it, or paying for the cost of posting one of our books to a Third World country.

• Help us translate our material. Many of our articles and documents are available in a number of languages (Spanish, French, German, Swedish, Danish, Urdu, Greek, Italian, Dutch, Arabic, Russian, Indonesian, etc) but there is still a lot of work to do in this field. If you are able to do translations for us, please let us know.

• Make a donation. We stand for the overthrow of capitalism and its replacement by a democratic and rational system of plenty for all: socialism. As you can imagine we do not have rich backers to help us in this task!
