The high cost of food is spreading all over the world, causing hunger and food riots in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and other countries. Now it has spread to Africa. Côte d'Ivoire faced violent protests against the high cost of food this month, leaving one person dead. Similar demonstrations have erupted in other parts of West Africa.
