Soton Marxists: Russia - from revolution to counter-revolution

Venue: Room 06/1083 The Nuffield Theatre, Highfield Campus, Southampton University

100 years and one day after the 1917 Russian "October" Revolution, Soton Marxists celebrate one of the greatest events in history where the working class in Russia succesfully carried through a revolution to build the world's first workers' state.

A lead-off looking into the revolution itself and the degeneration into Stalinism afterwards as all the world's powers turned on the Russian working class will be followed by an open-floor discussion that anyone can contribute to and then a summary of the discussion. All welcome to attend, whatever your political ideas or even if you don't consider yourself political at all. We will head to the pub afterwards for further, less formal discussion.
