Baluchistan Trade Union Leaders express thanks to PTUDC for the International Solidarity Campaign

The released leaders of the CSEA in Quetta praise the role the PTUDC played in their victorious strike.

The Baluchistan Secretariat Staff Association, and all the employees of the secretariat are very grateful for PTUDC for organising the solidarity campaign for the strike and the movement of the Secretariat workers. The PTUDC organised solidarity demonstrations in all the big cities of Pakistan and abroad. As a result, hundreds of emails and letters of protest were sent to the government of Baluchistan and the federal government, and also messages of solidarity. The PTUDC campaign organised demonstration in front of Pakistan embassies and letters of protest were sent to these embassies throughout the globe.

In June 2001, National organiser of PTUDC, Khalid Bhatti, participated in our protest movement and he highlighted our protest in the fortnightly paper Class Struggle. In his speech he assured us the full support and solidarity of the PTUDC.

During the strike, when workers suffered imprisonment, the campaign organised protests in Quetta, in the rest of Pakistan, and internationally. It raised our voice and defended our cause not only in Pakistan but internationally because of its strong links with the working class. This campaign boosted the energies and passions of the secretariat employees to fight for victory.

The claims which have been made by the so-called Labour Party of Pakistan, that they have played a significant role in the victory of our strike is ridiculous and false.

The PTUDC and the supporters of the Class Struggle have proved by their acts that they are the real friends of working class in the international labour movement.

On behalf of Secretariat workers' union,

Abdul Khaliq Kakar (President)
Mohammad Irfan Sarparah (Vice President)
Nazzar Baluch (Secretary General)
