This is the website of the International Marxist Tendency.
To find out more about the history of the Tendency we recommend you to start with the document
A Brief History of the International Marxist Tendency. You can also read more about the origins of the Marxist tendency in Ted Grant's book
History of British Trotskyism.
For a detailed analysis of our ideas regarding the world situation today and the tasks
facing revolutionary Marxists, please read our document on
World revolution and the tasks of the Marxists. If you agree with our ideas and the need to fight
for a revolutionary Marxist alternative within the working class movement, please join us, or see the Contact Us section for details of how to join the struggle for socialism in your country.
Here are some more documents where you can find out more about us:
2007 World School of the International Marxist Tendency
Every year the IMT organises
a Congress, a Conference or a World School. This year’s event was a School and
it followed on from the successes of previous years. More countries were
represented, new areas have been opened up, and the general feeling is one of a
tendency that is going forward, growing in numbers and sections.
What the International Marxist Tendency really stands for - Reply to the Lambertists
The ideas of the International Marxist Tendency are very clear. We
stand for the genuine ideas of Marxism and base ourselves on the works
of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Trotsky. You may agree or disagree with
these ideas. Occasionally however, we encounter opponents who are
prepared to go to incredible lengths to distort and falsify what we
stand for. Just such a case came up earlier this year when the French
language journal, La Vérité,
published by the Lambertist group launched a vicious and dishonest
attack on our positions. Here we explain what we really stand for.
Report on the 2006 World Congress of the International Marxist Tendency
In July 2006 the International Marxist Tendency organised its 2006 World
Congress, with comrades attending from over 30 countries. Here we
provide a report on the main discussions held, in particular World
Perspectives, China and Organisational tasks. It was by far the biggest
attended and most successful congress of the Tendency. In the coming
period we will also be publishing the documents voted by the Congress.
Inspiring 2005 World School of the International Marxist Tendency
Following last year’s very successful world
congress, the International Marxist Tendency organised an international school
in Barcelona this summer. The nature of the gathering was different to last
year’s. Being a school it was aimed more at the newer, younger comrades who
have gathered around the tendency in the recent period.
Conference of the international Marxist tendency: An historic meeting
In the first week of August 2004 a meeting of almost 300 Marxists from 26
countries, including Venezuela and Cuba, met in Spain to discuss the world
situation and the tasks of the international revolutionary Marxist tendency.
This was for many reasons an historic turning point that registered a
qualitative advance of the forces of Marxism on a world scale. (August 2004)
Interviews with some
of the comrades attending the conference
As we report in our article, Conference of the international Marxist
tendency: An historic meeting, an international conference was held this
summer of the international revolutionary Marxist tendency. We interviewed some
of the comrades taking part and are making them available to our readers to give
a taste of the proceedings and the atmosphere. (August, 2004)
